Vintage Hubley Cast Iron Door Stop

Vintage Hubley cast iron door stop, in the ever-recognizable Boston Terrier design. This is the mid-size version of Hubley's Boston Terriers, measuring about 8" long and weighing nearly 6 pounds.

The dog has airbrushed brown and cream coloring, with a hand-painted red dot for a tongue. The two separate pieces of cast iron are bolted together with a recessed flat-head screw in the left rib cage of the dog.

Close examination of this piece leads me to believe that it is one of Hubley's earliest versions of the Boston Terrier, circa late 1800s. The dog has very defined features, most notable on the rib case and legs. The bottoms of feet have not been ground flat and are slightly rounded.
